Hello friends,
Welcome to October, truly one of the best months linear time has to offer. The weather is turning (maybe not so much here in L.A.), the stores are stocked with spooky delights, and pumpkin is our new god. This is my favorite time of year.
We have a great new issue for you to enjoy, and it’s so rare they debut on the first of the month (we usually strive for the first Monday). I hope you can take some time with it, and relax with fiction by Marisa Crane, poetry by Rita Mookerjee, as well as the many others that allowed us the joy of sharing their pieces with the world. We need art and literature more now than ever before.
We’re still fundraising and we seem to have stalled just under the $1000 mark (we are aiming for $2500 by 11/6). You can check it out here, and to be honest I haven’t really felt right in promoting it this past week, with the whole Kavanaugh debacle taking up everyone’s collective time, energy, attention, and rage. But we are still here and we are still trying to pay our contributors next year, so if you feel generous and want some perks like pins, zines, feedback and editorial help, or a guest spot on our Twin Peaks podcast, we’d be forever grateful to you.
Next month is a big month for us: it marks our seventh anniversary and our special edition horror issue. Halloween doesn’t just “stop” because it’s “technically” on “October 31st” for us! We keep that party going all the way through Thanksgiving, y’all!
I hope you are well and are taking care of yourself. It’s been a YEAR, and it’s not over yet. We’re all in it together, though, and we’ll make it through, together.
