POETRY / Losers / Anthony W. Giambra
In the bar, Miss Carey’s song on, “Honey.”
If you were ten years younger, had no kid
wee’d still be smoking along the river,
watching Frogtown ducks swimming in the dark.
We watched TV. Amy, boozer, user
losers, laughing on the daybed. Once a
centerpiece, you said. I’m taking a quick
nap at 5 AM, watching you take your
clothes off before you sleep in the mattress
with nice bedding right in front of me.
I leave shortly after, driving through a narrow maze
wondering what future I made in leaving unchanged.
