Hello friends,
Welcome to November, our horror issue, and the mark of our seventh year drunk monkeying around!
As of this writing, our fundraiser has just surpassed the 50% mark, and ends tomorrow. While we didn't quite get to where we wanted to be, 50% means we can afford to pay our writers something starting next year, and that is amazing. We're still sorting out those details, and we'll have more info about it next month. As for now, thank you to everyone who donated, shared the fundraiser, and supported us in any way; we're so grateful.
Themed issues are sometimes difficult to come up with, and horror can be such a mess of the cliché and the profane, but we thought we'd give it a shot. I was afraid it would be a slim issue, but wow was I wrong. This thing is massive! I hope you enjoy it; there's some incredible writers in here, as well as our staff contributors and our Writer of the Month, July Westhale. I want to give special thanks to new assistant fiction editor Kia Alice Groom and to Tiffany Promise, who jumped in to help with the fiction side of things.
This year has been both the longest and shortest of our lives. It has lasted at least 82 years. I'm happy to be here with you, in this little slice of literary solace. Be well this month, and I'll talk to you a bit more in December.
Always,
Kolleen Carney Hoepfner
