POETRY / Play> / Dana Kinsey
listening to “Suit & Tie,” Justin Timberlake
red dress shimmies itself off the velvet hanger
skims my head pendulum hips figure 8
smile&smooth it over places I
Guccied on each brass blast in that bridge
punctuated with chandelier eruptions
tuxedo sharp on lowkey croon
love is swingin’ in the air tonight (me too!)
a luscious satin bag on gold chain curls unfurled
stilettos aimed skyward
trumpet players catch me midair on one brilliant burst
falsetto kiss to my neck pulls me to plush&glittering
vinyl clouds my floating dance floor
Clive Christian-soaked collars hazy club light know my
name (alias) and martini Alexander Wang
bodycons me hands-on-hips Jungle Red lips
all eyes rivet I’m smoldering (watch: detached)
but know all the silk ties in my orbit
point their limos (polite term) to my planet
a black leather shoe slides between my heels
cummerbund steers near drums clap
slightly out of time delirious stars flip
this slow-drawl trip to a synthesizer fantasy
midnight sighs luxuriant goodbyes that last
note dwindles in my earbuds replayed for hard days
